Will he by Joji

Joji is Japanese singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, former Internet personality and comedian.

Genre: Lo-fi

This first long-shot is deliberately done to set the viewer in the setting and mood of the rest of the music video. The dim lighting and blue colours give the sense of sadness and loneliness: reflecting the music genre. Lo-fi music genre is therefore a kind of music that feels 'low', calm and melancholic.

The camera keeps zooming in on this panda-dressed dancer, and stops at a medium shot of the mask. He is shown slowly dancing surrounded by what looks like an after-party setting. It induces that the is dressed like this because maybe it was a costume party. This also therefore helps personify the lyrics in the sense that maybe it means that Joji is trying to mask something that he mentions on the lyrics.

This low tracking shot of spilled blood on white bathroom tiles starts to raise questions to the change of setting and the meaning of it. We still hear no singing therefore we are introduced this by the lettering shown of the song's title.

We are then brought to the medium-long shot image of Joji himself laying inside what seems a bloodbath. We start to link that he was part of the party as it is in a bathroom- meaning that below is the living room where the panda and the rest of people are.

Then again, we have blue lighting, inducing the sad melody of the song and the time of the day - noon. This also links with the fact that the party is over (which probably ended around 5-6 in the morning.) This is a medium low tracking shot of him walking around a neighbourhood, signifying that he went out of the house he was in.

These bath shots then come in as memories to show how he was feeling earlier on and to remark where he was before. The medium shot helps us focus more on his tired and numb expression; signifying that he has been through something truly shocking - also induced by the fact that he is in a literal blood bath.

This high close-up therefore further focuses on his expression and feelings, so we are helped to link it to the music.

This medium long- shot further shows us that he is walking away from the house, and the fact that is composed by mostly the houses and he is aside helps reflect that he is still in shock as he is taking all that has happened in.

We are lastly shown clips of a girl - perhaps the girl he is singing about in the song, and the fact that in this medium shot she is wearing red links to the blood he was tinted with in the bath. Also, there is an arrow going through her head, signifying maybe that like the typical image of an arrow transversing a heart it is transversing her mind (perhaps she feels numb and shocked by something just as well as he does.)
