This is a friend of mine who I used for filming. I decided to choose him as his style; not just clothe- wise but his vibe; appeals to the aesthetic I wanted my music video to have. I chose his clothes based on how I wanted him to appear towards the viewer. I also wanted to contrast how he is wearing a lot of clothes (giving the sense that it is cold) with the fact that the girl (me) isn't wearing as much (a summer-y top but long pants) as a lot of her skin visible. I wanted to make this noticeable to show how she is slowly starting to change. This is represented in the fact that although her top is very summer-y her bottom fit isn't. This shows how she is starting to let go of the weight of him.

This is a medium shot where his face is clearly seen, done deliberately to focus the attention on him and to show by a point of view of her, how they were connected.

I decided to put the name of the song and the band to introduce the song as soon as it started, just like Joji's 'Will He' Music Video.

This is the first shot of the video, focusing solely on the colours and the setting to locate the viewer. I chose to apply a pink filter on the whole music video to help me represent the constant presence of the 'love' theme.

It then decided to do a tracking-shot of my feet, going around the things I wanted the viewer to focus on and to help them situate themselves. Each prop was carefully planned, as they each represent a feeling that is constant throughout the video. The packet of cigarettes symbolises how she feels so heartbroken and stressed out by her situation that she smokes to calm herself down. I deliberately chose the 'Malboro' brand because of the red colours of the packet, which I thought would work as it would make it stand out. I then also bought a red lighter to go with it so they would both look like they go together. This already makes them link together- showing too how later at the end of the video the note is burnt by the use of it. The fact that it is red also symbolises the flames and so showing how the love that once was exhilarating and alive is now burning out.

The beers then portray how she is damaging herself in another way other than smoking to show how much she is internally dealing with. I chose fruit like strawberries and oranges because of their bright colours. I wanted them to stand out from everything. I scattered them to show how she is slowly getting better and how the 'light in her heart' is slowly getting inside. Finally, I chose a white sheet so everything else would stand out and to show how; contrasting with the black and white tiles that she is surrounded by, that white sheet she is on is symbolising a sort of light dome. It shows that she is getting into recovery, setting aside the feelings that externally affect her.

This is the first shot - being a closeup. I applied a close-up of her eye first because of the meaning that eyes generally have. Eyes are the doors to the soul, and conventionally, 'eyes never lie'. I deliberately made it so it would not be looking to the camera, to make the audience feel like she is completely elsewhere. I then went onto using marginal quotes, with the idea being taken from Tame Impala's official Love/Paranoia video. I wanted to make it more interesting and to show a clear story - starting with 'HEARTBROKEN' and ending with 'FREE'.

This is followed by another close up shot of her mouth, to slowly keep introducing her.

Afterwards, another closeup shot of another part of her body. It makes her seem mysterious yet the viewer starts to build up an image of her.
